Fundraising Info

Fundraising is required for Chapter Volunteers and is highly recommended for Correspondent Volunteers (CVs). The full Participation Fee can be raised with hard work, and many Volunteers each year are able to raise enough to pay their way in full. Fundraising is also an educational experience that creates ownership and builds other vaulable skills.

Correspondent Volunteers are responsible for raising their own Participation Fee, and this page provides information on how to begin that process.  Chapter Volunteers participate in group fundraising activities within their local chapter.

AMIGOS provides a Fundraising Guide (pdf) with advice and templates. Additionally, these are a few examples of strategies that have worked for past Volunteers:

All donations made to AMIGOS are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, making your fundraising efforts easier because you offer donors this benefit.

Grants and sponsorships are also available from universities, churches, corporations, and local organizations (i.e. The Lions Club, The Rotary Club, etc.). A list of previous scholarships is available below.

Financial assistance is awarded based on financial need. The financial aid application (included in the Volunteer Application) must be submitted by March 31, 2009, for CVs or by a date determined by individual Chapters. Financial incentives are provided to returning AMIGOS Volunteers.

“From waking up with the roosters to playing cards by lamplight, AMIGOS opens up a whole new perspective on life. I discovered my capacity to grow as a leader, role model, and friend.”
