Fundraising Info

Fundraising is optional, but highly recommended. The full Participation Fee is easily attainable with a little hard work. It is also a great educational experience and creates ownership for Volunteers.

Correspondent Volunteers (CVs) are responsible for raising their own Participation Fee requirement, and this page provides information on how to begin that process.  Chapter Volunteers will participate in group fundraising activities within their local chapter.

AMIGOS provides a Fundraising Guide with advice on methods and templates to use, but here are a few examples of strategies that have worked for past Volunteers:

All donations made to AMIGOS are tax deductible to the full extent of the law, making your fundraising efforts easier because you offer donors this benefit.

Grants and sponsorships are also available from universities, churches, corporations, and local organizations (i.e. The Lions Club, The Rotary Club, etc.). A list of previous scholarships is available below.

Financial assistance is awarded based on financial need. The financial aid application (page 26-27 of the Volunteer Application) must be submitted by March 31, 2008, for CVs or by a date determined by individual Chapters. Financial incentives are provided to returning AMIGOS Volunteers.

“I spent two months living in a rural Latin American community this summer, and I think I learned more from the people there in those two months than in my four years of high school.”
